Dr. Hania Salame

GRA Principal

Assalamu Alaikum!

It is truly an honor to serve as principal of Great Revelations Academy. I graduated from Wayne State University on May of 2015 with a Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction majoring in Education and Science. Prior to that, I received two masters’ degrees: Master of Art in Teaching from University of Michigan-Dearborn and Master of Science in Biological Sciences from Wayne State University. I hold the professional teaching certificate in Mathematics and Biology since 2004. My undergraduate major was Biological Sciences in which I received the degree of Bachelor of Science as I attended Wayne State University and Henry Ford Community College.

My PhD dissertation is titled as “Using the Instructional Congruence Model to Change a Science Teacher’s Practices and English Language Learners’ Attitudes and Achievement in Science.” It reflects my dream for the field of education which translates into reaching out to different learners to establish better understanding and comprehension. It also included training a science teacher to use the instructional Congruence Framework and creating lessons to incorporate literacy and student’s cultural components into the science classroom.

I believe that being in the education field for over two decades and carrying three advanced degrees will aid in promoting academic excellence within this institute and advance our student’s future and growth overall. I assumed the roles of teacher, counselor, academic coordinator, Arabic program supervisor and mentor over the years. My journey in education started in 1993 when I became an Arabic and Islamic studies teacher. I became a substitute teacher with Dearborn Public Schools before I held my full time job teaching Mathematics at the American Islamic Academy. Over the years at AIA, I taught Mathematics and Science courses for fourth grade through twelfth grade. Six years later, as the AIA was closed, I started working for Global Educational Excellence at Riverside Academy West where I taught Mathematics at the high school level for eleven years.

My personal and professional goals are to provide our students with the best educational experience possible to develop lifelong learners. I am looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children achieve their highest potential. As parents become more involved in their children’s academic learning process, students will have higher morale, school attendance, grades and test scores. I view being part of GRA as an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of students alongside with a dynamic, progressive group of professionals that build a strong classroom community based on the teachings of Islam.

Fatimah Maki

Preschool Teacher

Assalumu Alaikum,

My name is Fatimah Maki. I will be teaching Preschool (three years old) at The Great Revelations Academy. I received my certification in Early Childhood Education from Schoolcraft College. As a mother of 4 children, the well being and education of my children was always my main priority. As a mother/teacher, I understand the approaches I need to take with my students as any situation may arise. For the past 15 years, I’ve been working in a preschool setting. Through the many years in my field, I have gained the experience and knowledge that reflects on early childhood development. The early years in a child’s life are extremely important for a strong foundation to be built, in order to set the stage for the future of their education as they develop.

Children need a safe loving, caring and positive environment that supports their individual needs, whether it is culturally, socially, emotionally, cognitively or physically. All of these are key elements that reflect on early childhood development as a whole. Children are natural explorers of their environment, withwell-structured surroundings they will experience hands on activities through play. The individual needs of each child varies from one to the other, therefore I will plan accordingly to the specific learning needs of each child. The Great Revelations Academy has adopted a curriculum that will be implemented daily where it covers alphabetic principals, the subjects math, science, social studies and social and emotional skills in a theme based classroom setting. The children will also learn the principals of Islam that are developmentally appropriate for their age.

It is a privilege to be a teacher for the Great Revelations Academy; I am looking forward to working in this establishment as we continue to carry on the legacy and traditions built by the founder.

Assalamu Alaikum,

My name is Rana Dagher. I am happy and honored to serve as the Islamic teacher for grades (2,3 and 4) and as the Science teacher for grades (7 and 9). During my first year at Great Revelations Academy, I taught science for grades 6 through 9 and during my second year I taught Islamics for lower elementary. My major in college was education for Middle school. I studied and graduated in Houston, Texas, and I worked there for a year as a middle school teacher. Ayatullah Assayed Fadlallah (RA) has taught me that the most important thing is to have a strong relationship with Allah (SWT), and that our goal should be to excel in our learning and in our work. That is what the holy Quran teaches us and it is what I want my students to learn. I love working with kids, and every age group is exciting for me. Living in the west, it is our duty to nurture our kids, and to protect their Islamic Identity. Our school is getting bigger and stronger and I believe that with the will and guidance of Allah (SWT), and with the support of our parents, great Revelation Academy will continue to have a very positive impact on our students.

Noha Beydoun

Middle/High School ELA Teacher

Assalamu Alaikum,

I'm a PhD candidate of English Literary and Cultural Studies at Wayne State University. I'm currently writing my dissertation on the politics of hijab in American culture. I am also certified in Secondary Education, with dual degrees in Integrated Sciences and English, and a Masters Degree in English. I am currently an instructor at Wayne State University and Henry Ford College, where I teach various courses in composition and literature in writing. With teaching experience at the elementary, secondary, and collegiate levels, I find that a single effective learning strategy can be useful at all learning levels. From my own experience as a writer, I teach my students that writerly growth and skill can only happen over time through hard-work, patience, and reflection.

Hassan Ayoub

Gym Teacher

As-salamu Alaikum Parents,

My name is Hassan Ayoub, and it is a great pleasure that I have the opportunity to work with your child this year. I will be the physical education teacher and coach GRA this year. I am certified in CPR/AED to assure you that your child’s health is in good hands. It is my goal to demonstrate proper physical activity to the students and help push them to succeed in living a healthy life. Throughout the year I will remind the students the importance of staying active and eating healthy and how it will help prepare them in the real world after they graduated from school. My goal is to instill in students that success comes with staying physically fit and healthy.

I have been a basketball coach for almost 7 years now. I have coached both at the middle school and high school level. Edsel Ford high school boy’s basketball is where my career began as a coach, and later on adapted to coaching the girls basketball team at Lowery middle school. I have aspirations to coach here at the academy and help build a wonderful program here.

To conclude, I am honored and privileged to teach your child this year. I assure you that your child is in good hands and Insha’Allah a healthier life style. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me immediately through the school email or the school number.
