Students are initially assessed in core academic areas using a nationally recognized standardized test (Iowa Test for Basic Skills (“ITBS”) and/or NWEA (MAP). English language learners (“ELL”) are initially assessed in English language with the English Language Proficiency Assessment (“ELPA”). Additionally, students are assessed through the administration of the new Michigan Educational Assessment (“M-STEP”) and teacher-created assessments. Teacher-created assessments include portfolios, observation, and foreign language placement.
Student data is tracked electronically using “Zangle” as well as other database systems, to assist in the identification of students with special needs, the implementation of the provision of services as well as monitoring, reporting and tracking progress.
